Early Hard Drive Failure
Purchased this unit in March 2010 because I have an 8 year old Toshiba laptop that still works fine. Just today it looks like the Hard Drive has failed. I talked to Toshiba support and they gave me two options. The first option is to send it back to Toshiba with a expected turnaround time of 3 weeks. Option 2 is to take it to our local Best Buy and give them the reference nunber I received. I will do that tomorrow. Disappointed to say the least with this unit. I will update with the outcome. Did I say the external speakers are horrible? They are.
Nice choice and very happy
After doing my research decided for this Toshiba Satellite and I can said that I'm very happy with it. About what some people said, it's true you are going to be cleaning finger prints all the time but I take it, any way your Laptop will be always shinning and with no dust. The speakers are small its true but who use them ? I always plug my earphones and the sound is great. Very nice to have the number pad, it makes a big difference especially if you work a lot with excel.
The best is the TrueBrite display that gives a bright screen and its not tiring for your eyes, excellent !
I will recommend it to anybody, two thumps up !

Excellent mid range laptop
I've been always a desktop guy, will always be, but this baby rocked my world.
there are several detailed reviews already so I'll say what might be of interest to a chosen few.
I can run 4 VMs with 512 of RAM on each one and play WoW on the default settings at the same time without a hitch.
Now, I'm just wondering if it can play Starcraft 2 on default at least....
oh btw, speakers aren't the best...... in fact, they plain suck, is not that the sound quality is whack, is just that is it not loud enough. If there is someone speaking close to you, chances are you won't hear it well.
dissatisfied
I bought a Toshiba laptop and to my surprise the touchpad did not work properly from day one. After hours on the phone explaining the problem and doing a thousand procedures I had to ship it to Toshiba. The problem is that they lost my computer and they don't do anything to solve the problem. I have called them more than 30 times already and they have been unwilling to help me. I will never buy a Toshiba again and I suggest you do the same.
