Perfect for granddaughter's use... |
My granddaughter got a new house-mate who has a son a year older than her son Devon. Previously, she and Devon watched TV or videos in the living room together, but now the newcomers tend to gather around the large set with them. Most of the time that works out well and they welcome the company, but there are times when young boys get along well, and then there are times when two is one too many. :-) Boys will be boys, you know...
To give Devon (and herself) some privacy when wanted, Mikki talked about getting a small, portable DVD player for Devon's room, so he could watch cartoons in private on occasion.
Thus, when I saw this DVD player on Factsinfostuff, I just had to get it...but, of course...
I like the look of this sleek little player, but since I can't testify to the quality, I called Mikki. She's very happy with it, saying it works "perfectly" and not only is Devon enjoying some privacy, she and he are getting some quality "alone time" together on the afternoons when she stays in his room with him. That's when she gets a wonderful side benefit: the "treat" of falling asleep with Devon curled up beside her. And we all know what a warm, tender feeling that is. ...sigh... (She said that before they had this player in his small bedroom, she would read on the couch in the living room while he either sat on the end of couch or on the floor, viewing cartoons or Disney movies. Devon would often fall asleep there and she'd cat-nap on the couch.)
Curled up together is much better!
Mikki also said that the remote control performs many more functions than she expected. To test the battery life, she's looking forward to their next road trip, but expects good results because she read positive reports in other product reviews.
As I've said before, I'm happy when Devon's happy...so who could ask for more? It's life's little pleasures that mean the most.

Jack's DVD/CD player |
|
This DVD/CD player will be used in an educational environment. When the class is taught in classroom without a TV, then I will use this unit. Since it also serves as a CD player, it will be used in portions of the course for audio work. This unit fills this need adequately. |

Trying to do my part |
I bought this based on others' reviews, so thought it was only fair.
Got this to take my very rambunctious 20-month old foster son on the 5-hr plane ride to NJ. While I had enough other food and activities to staff a circus, this was my fail-safe in case everything else stopped making him happy. He really was not into the videos at all so we did not use much.
I did notice, however, that the sound was really hard to hear on a plane. The headphones worked better, but he is too small to use them (or just wouldn't). Otherwise I concur that this is a good value. Oh, except I couldn't figure out how the remote worked. Might just be my low-techness. |

Great for $60. |
|
Just wanted a cheap DVD to hang from the seat. Glad I didn't get the fancy case to hang it as you can McGuiver up a strap easily yourself. I used a lanyard from a conference and a key ring. I already had a power converter for the car, so this turned out to be a cheap option for me. Picture and sound are better than I expected based on reviews. Can't say anything about durability yet, it's only been a month. |
